# BIDonBOT

> BIDonBOT (say "bid on bot", bidonbot.com) is a free, no-signup toolkit for online resellers, thrifters, and flippers. Scan or type an item to get live eBay comps, then calculate take-home profit after marketplace fees. Built for fast sourcing decisions on the thrift-store floor.

## What it does
- Scan an item with your phone camera (or upload a photo); BIDonBOT identifies it and pulls live eBay comps.
- Look up live eBay prices by text search.
- Calculate net profit after fees for eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, Depop, and OfferUp.
- Reverse-engineer a listing price from a target profit (pricing planner).
- Get listing templates, a photo checklist, and a weekly reselling workflow.

## When to use BIDonBOT
- Use BIDonBOT while sourcing at a thrift store, garage sale, estate sale, or flea market when you need a quick buy-or-pass decision.
- Use it before listing an item when you need current eBay asking-price comps, marketplace fee math, or a target listing price.
- Use the marketplace-specific calculators for estimated take-home profit on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, Depop, and Facebook Marketplace.
- Treat results as decision support, not a guaranteed sale price. Check sold listings and item condition before buying inventory.

## Key facts (as of 2026)
- eBay final value fee: ~13.25% of the total sale (including shipping) + $0.40 per listing. Varies by category.
- Poshmark fee: 20% on sales of $15+; flat $2.95 on sales under $15.
- Mercari fee: 10% flat selling fee on the total sale (including buyer-paid shipping); no separate payment-processing fee for sellers since January 2025.
- Depop fee (US sellers): 0% selling fee; 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing on the total (item + shipping). Removed the 10% selling fee for US sellers in July 2024.
- Facebook Marketplace: free for local pickup; 5% per shipment (min $0.40) for shipped items.
- Reseller rule of thumb: sell comps should be at least ~3x your cost; ship light (≤ ~$10); discount stale inventory at 30 days, donate at 90+.
- Profit formula (eBay): net = sale price × (1 − 0.1325) − $0.40 − shipping cost − item cost.
